Every month we aim to release a new Tactical Decision Game to engage with our audience and promote innovation within the wargaming space. February's edition is a proof of concept and functions check for the processes.
Future editions of TDG's will have PDF Files associated for proper planning.
1. Read through the initial brief provided in the pictures
2. Look at the pictures provided and make a plan
3. Email that plan to kevin.w@nearpeersimulations.org
4. NPSims will select the 3 most common courses of action from participants and then run those plans within the wargaming model being used
5. Results will be posted and distributed for further discussion the last Friday of the month
You are a Platoon Leader in a territorial defense group, providing recon and looking for targets of opportunity that has been observing a village recently taken by Donovian forces.
Your PLT consists of 30 soldiers with only civilian vehicles and limited heavy weapons;
1 PKM
2 NLAW
3 RPGs
MK19 grenade launcher.
Around 1km behind you to the East, you have radio contact to the rest of your group, a reduced Company of reservists hardened by combat experience. Although this area has been quiet for a while, there are intermittent artillery impacts spread across other access routes from the occupied village you are observing.
After a few days of scanning and quiet, the dawn is interrupted by an MLRS strike, the two lookouts on watch report an armoured column entering the occupied village over the radio.
Report as follows;
3x T-72B3
2x BTR-80 + 2x Squad ENY INF
Company HQ promises support by drones and artillery, though the timeline is unclear as these are not on station with the rest of your platoon.
Develop a course of action for either a withdrawal, or a hasty ambush and email it to kevin.williamson@nearpeersimulations.org or via the discord; https://discord.gg/a28z2PJsVz
